As a Clinical Specialist/Evaluator I assessed some of the most challenging cases for the Dept of Child and Family Services. My forensic background enabled me to conduct thorough interviews with a range of stakeholders and provided critical, evidence-based consultation to DCFS via extensive documentation and in-person conferences. Assessments and evaluation required regular use of strong interviewing skills, reviewing documents that include records from medical facilities, Dept. of Education, mental health providers, treatment facilities, police reports, court records, etc. My advocacy, ability to negotiate and develop structured plans, persuasive writing and speaking, and ability to build rapport with a range of demographics resulted in several successful outcomes for children in the child welfare system.

• Manage caseload of clients involved in child abuse and neglect proceedings, ages 0-21 years old• Provide crisis intervention and short-term counseling as needed• Conduct interviews with clients and collateral resources (family members, schools, hospitals, mental health professions, etc.)• Assess clients’ physical, mental, emotional, and academic needs and make referrals and recommendations accordingly• Negotiate with various parties to develop and implement treatment and permanency plans and evaluate effectiveness of interventions• Advocate on behalf of clients with various institutions including Family Court, Dept. of Education, ACS, OMH, etc.• Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and support staff as part of an interdisciplinary team• Prepare written affidavits and provide court testimony • Observe interactions between child and parent/potential planning resource to assess attachment and physical/emotional safety • Communicate client-focused recommendations to the court as well as well as other interested parties• Attend planning conferences hosted by various parties within child welfare system to discuss systemic issues
