It focuses on empowering women by increasing their participation in governance and decision-making within agricultural value chains, advocating for equitable land ownership, and addressing gender-based violence (GBV). The goal is to create a more inclusive and resilient agri-food system that fosters gender equality and improves nutrition and food security.The initiative will train 2,627 actors within the agri-food system in Kiambu County and nationally in gender-transformative approaches and accountability. This training will enable these actors to actively engage in agri-food systems and food policy.OVERALL OBJECTIVE (Impact):To enhance food security and living conditions in Kiambu through a gender-equitable agricultural and food system.PROJECT OBJECTIVE (Outcome):To enable 2,627 actors to use their knowledge of gender-transformative approaches to actively participate in the agri-food system and influence food policy.SUB-GOALS: Increase the decision-making power of women and marginalized groups in the agri-food sector. In 2022, I presented the state of hunger in the Horn of Africa in the EU Parliament in Brussels and to German MPs in Berlin. I advocated for increased transitional and resilience programs funding, longer implementation periods for resilience programs to enhance impact and stronger focus on HDP Nexus and Climate financing in the HoA. Additionally, I highlighted the power imbalance in EU and African trade agreements, with strong focus on exportation of Highly Hazardous Pesticides (HHPs) from Europe into Africa, most of which are banned for use within Europe and highlighted the extra burden they pose to Africa's Healthcare systems. 2.
