An asset management and maintenance infrastructure specialist, I have over 30 years experience in heavy industrial and commercial sectors. I bring to business a passion for achieving results and draw on my extensive experience and attention to detail to deliver positive results in asset maintenance management. I have a delivery focus and appreciate the importance of mentoring less experienced colleagues and developing positive relationships within teams as well as with clients and stakeholders to increase overall company performance and profitability. Dedicated, motivated and success focussed, I have very well developed written and verbal communication skills. One of my key strengths is my ability to manage competing priorities up and down in a complex, multi-disciplined project context and to communicate complex material to a variety of audiences. I have extensive leadership, site operations and supervisory experience, particularly relating to mechanical and electrical maintenance and asset facility services.

As Manager Assets and Maintenance with Downer EDI Limited (Downer) I provided construction project management and asset maintenance advice on projects up to the value of $20mil. I developed and managed contracts for both maintenance services and construction projects. I managed the set up and day-to-day operations of large scale mechanical and electrical projects. I undertook all aspects of staff recruitment, rostering and payroll processing. Having established and staffed projects I actively monitored and evaluated the operations to identify efficiency improvement opportunities. Workplace safety is a personal passion of mine, and at Downer I significantly increased the safety performance on all projects I worked on. Through the implementation of formal staff safety training programs and by actively supervising and mentoring less experienced staff, I was able to establish a culture of safety at Downer. I am proud that the projects I worked on at Downer reported no lost time due to injuries in the period 2004-13. In terms of asset maintenance and therefore operational efficiency, works subject to Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM) and preventative maintenance strategies have increased from 3% to almost 40% during my time with the company. My efforts in mentoring and working with apprentices and other trainees have been recognised trough industry awards, including an award in 2010 for Mentor of the Year in my industry category.Working with a large entity like Downer, I understand and actively develop strong positive relationships with all stakeholders, both those directly involved in the project and the broader community in which we work. I have worked closely with relevant industry bodies, local business groups and planning bodies to ensure my projects add value to the broader community.

From locomotives to rail infrastructure such as electrification, communications, control systems and signalling systems, Siemens has a comprehensive range of solutions to enable safe and accessible mobility for Australia and New Zealand. Siemens combines global expertise with dynamic research and development to deliver offerings such as our world class locomotives of premium quality and safety, controlling solutions for infrastructure safety and rail electrification technologies for upgrading environmentally exhaustive diesel infrastructures. My role at Siemens involved supervising works on a fleet of Combino (100% low floor) trams. Managing the daily activities of a team of 12 mechanics and electricians I drew heavily on my excellent personal communication skills to ensure the both construction and maintenance works are carried out effectively, efficiently and most importantly safely. As well as establishing the workshop from scratch, and staffing it with appropriately skilled and experienced staff, my role was to continuously review and evaluate operations, and identify and implement more effective and efficient alternatives. By fostering an environment of positive and open communication between staff and management I was able to ensure that any problems were identified early and resolved satisfactorily. By working hard to make safety central to all workshop activities and management decision-making I was able to ensure that no time was lost from the project due to workplace injury or industrial action. As in all my roles or community activities, such as my volunteer role at the local Neighbourhood Centre, I made every effort to mentor and encourage less experienced staff, instilling the importance of safety, attention to detail, teamwork and quality. My ability to manage several, sometimes competing deadlines, together with my capacity to analyse data and information quickly, were central to my success in the role.
