I manage the activity of the University's Sustainable Cities global research priority (GRP). Facilitating multidisciplinary world class research on pressing global issues related to sustainable cities. Keen to make contact with external contacts in the sustainable cities field.

The Caribbean Council provides specialist advice and support to companies, trade associations, governments, public sector organisations, and regional and multilateral organizations. The services it provides include research and analysis, investment advice, advocacy and lobbying, events and trade missions and support to companies seeking to develop new business in the Caribbean.I have managed public affairs/advocacy campaigns for a number of international clients with a significant level of success. More broadly I have also delivered on an ongoing basis research and advisory services to members and have delivered events and other activity to support client’s objectives. Key Achievements• Developed expert knowledge on the Caribbean over a relatively short period of time without any prior knowledge• Delivered strong and well recognised public affairs campaigns focused on developing strategies to influence policy and thinking in the UK, Europe and in Caribbean countries• Monitored and researched national and international policy developments, providing briefing and analysis that enabled the company and its clients to make informed decisions• Managed a range of different programmes for clients to ensure delivery of high quality services on time and to budget, including events• Developed an impressive and international network of contacts related to Caribbean trade and investment• Managed team members, external consultants, suppliers and other partners to ensure performance in accordance with project/organisational goals• Became a key member of the Management Team and a Board Member and was responsible for administration of the financial affairs of the organisation.

The Chartered Institute of Housing is a registered Charity that seeks to support professionals working in the housing sector through the delivery of advice, support and knowledge and to influence national thinking in respect of housing strategy. Key Achievements • Researched policy and regulatory issues in the social housing sector and delivered a series of large conference and smaller seminars to explore current issues with social housing professionals• Developed a keen understanding of key issues facing the housing sector in order to identify opportunities to delivery events that addresses the needs of the members of the organisation• Further developed my people management skills as each conference organiser was assigned a team of administrators to assist in the delivery of each conference and seminar.

Woodside was my first full time employment after graduating. I started as a Conference and Sales Co-ordinator, supporting the sales team to sell events space to a range of customers in the public and private sector. After one year in the position and following the promotion of the Sales Manager, I was invited by the company Directors to take the position of Sales Manager. I managed a team of four and was part of the Centre’s management team. Key Achievements• Surpassed the £1.9million sales budget for the first time in three years• Learned how to manage and motivate a team of young and low paid staff to achieve the Centre’s objective• Became skilled in managing difficult conversations with departmental heads who were required to deal with high volumes of visitors when sales were strong• Developed sales and negotiating techniques that remain invaluable to me• Implemented sales strategies to achieve a range of KPIs
