In order to be a more well rounded individual in the cannabis industry, I switched gears to retail. My responsibilities at the store included daily financial reporting, training new employees, customer relations, sales, sanitation and maintenance of the property, and asset protection/security. Within the first couple months, I've already helped the store receive multiple 5 Star Google Reviews and I've been awarded for helping increase sales. My goals for this chapter in my career are focused on understanding market trends and consumer purchasing habits. Also I am gaining more knowledge on the effects of price point fixtures, licensing and standards of business within Massachusetts and national trends at large, and how to manage relations with customers and patients of different backgrounds.

Based on my entrepreneurial and marketing experience in cannabis, I was recruited after college to help start up Ocean Breeze Cultivations. Being a part of the company from the beginning gave me the opportunity to learn the business and learn more about cultivating cannabis. After a year of hard work, I was promoted to Cultivation Manager and given the responsibility to help lead the team and train new members. From the start I learned about irrigation, propagation, light fixtures and power systems, proper storage and warehouse safety, and different techniques to cultivate cannabis. Once promoted, I gained more knowledge and experience in commercial wholesale, Metrc and Argus software to help with production, business-employee relations, and brand management.

When I first moved up to the New England area, I needed to stay active and patiently wait for my opportunity to get into the cannabis industry. Thankfully, everyone at the Wallingford Dram and Anju welcomed me to the team. My previous restaurant experience made it easy for me to fit in and adapt quickly. I started in Anju as a server and management saw it necessary that I use my abilities to help as a bartender at the Dram. Unfortunately Covid-19 was the reason why I had to stop working, but I have visited my old friends from time to time.

Between the years of 2013 - 2019 I have had plenty of restaurant, hosting, and partial catering experience in Charleston SC. By far the most challenging and the most fun I have ever had was working under Chef Justin Nave at Monza. I learned so much about knife technique, plate presentation, and traditional pasta recipes. We made pizza from scratch and then later I was taught to make pasta, other entrées, and desserts on the menu. To this day, I remain in contact with Chef Nave for inspiration.

My colleague and friend Cody Dixon is the founder and director of Soul Power Productions. It is a non profit organization which provides services and spaces that of a music production company along with standing as an educational resource for the youth based in the Lowcountry Area. He allowed me the opportunity to be a part of the program and learn more about the music industry from the business side. I helped with event planning, fundraising, and marketing while learning about B2B relations. The organization still has massive influence in the area and continues to host a variety of events focused on insight to cultural heritage and environmental preservation.

Wings For Kids is an afterschool program focused in underdeveloped and impoverished communities to help children build social/emotional learning skills. I was a counselor at Edmund A Burns Elementary School in North Charleston. The first half of the school year I was the mentor for 5th Grade Boys and the second half I watched over Kindergarten Boys. During program hours I was responsible for helping students develop social/emotional skills through curriculum and daily check ins, helping with homework, providing supervision while kids changed to different classrooms or workshops, and for sanitation/maintenance of the premises. In the beginning I thought it would be easy to chaperone some kids for a few hours a day, but unknowingly and simultaneously the kids taught me so much as well. In order to provide positive guidance and be a role model for the children, I had to have balance/control over my own emotions and stay focused on presenting the best possible version of myself.

Most people will say they quit their job because of poor ownership and management of a company. The opposite reason is precisely why I stayed at Forever 21 for as long as I did. At the time, management of the location I worked at was amazing. They allowed me to use my physical appearance to be able to express myself while helping others do the same. I learned the basics of Mens and Womens Fashion while keeping up with the continuous changes of the fashion industry and trends. I started off as an associate and was quickly trained to perform the tasks of merchandisers, stock associates, and cashiers. This job was the initial start of my journey for financial independence and literacy.
