Stephan Moore is a sound artist working at the intersection of performance and technology. His creative work is primarily concerned with the creation and perception of sonic environments, encompassing practices in field recording, physical computing, studio production, audio spatialization, loudspeaker construction and interactive software design. This work manifests as sound installations, sound designs and scores for dance and theater productions, solo and group performance works and improvisations, generative compositions, and recordings. He has enjoyed a long and productive collaboration with sound artist Scott Smallwood in their electronic music performance duo Evidence, and with the choreographer/director Yanira Castro, as the resident composer and technologist her company A Canary Torsi.He is the Curator of Sound Art for the Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts; the President of Isobel Audio, the maker of Hemisphere loudspeakers; and a Professor of Instruction in the Sound Arts and Industries program at Northwestern University. He is also a founding member of the Art Advisory Board of Brooklyn experimental music venue Issue Project Room, and sits on the advisory board of Chicago's High Concept Labs. He is co-founder of the Chicago Laboratory for Electro-Acoustic Theater (CLEAT) which runs a monthly concert series at the Elastic Arts Foundation in Chicago.
