About Stephane Boyer

I am a Professor at the Insect Biology Research Institute (IRBI), and have a particular interest in trophic interactions and the use of molecular techniques to inform the control of pest species, the conservation of endangered species and the restoration of native ecosystems.I am also developing new tools and protocols for non-invasive DNA sampling and the detection of new or cryptic species.I am also founder and Editor in Chief of the journal Rethinking Ecology.

My research focuses on the conservation of endemic animals and the restoration of native ecosystems. I am particularly interested in the study of predator-prey and host-parasitoid relationships in managed and unmanaged ecosystems, the use of environmental DNA and the development of non-invasive DNA sampling for biodiversity monitoring and species discovery. I use high-throughput DNA sequencing on a variety of platforms. I teach Conservation Science, Molecular genetics, and Animal Behaviour. I am also the editor in chief of the journal Rethinking Ecology.
