About Stephaney Ferguson
Konnichiwa! I have spent the last year absolutely in LOVE with my job working with ESL students in Japan as a teacher for the JET Programme USA. The JET Programme is an innovative teaching program that is unique for its emphasis on cultural exchange instead of only focusing on language acquisition. I have enjoyed spending time learning about my students’ background and culture and as the time comes for me to return to the USA, I am excited to find a job I can just as eagerly dedicate my time and passion towards. I am drawn to places with lots of diversity and forward-thinking perspectives. My favorite part about my current job is the opportunity I have to connect with my students’ culture by participating in games native to their country, practicing shodō (Japanese calligraphy), and learning the slang and dialect my students are currently using as opposed to “textbook” dialogue.
