Mother Theresa said: "Everyone deserves to go out of this world knowing they are loved."I am starting this nonprofit to serve three primary purposes. The first is to create Foster Care Wellness Centers for foster and kinship children and their families. These centers will have different medical providers coming together with a whole-child approach and are all there because they want to serve this population. They will be safe, loving centers where every staff member will be trauma-informed trained and continued personal development will be encouraged. Current plans for the type of professionals involved are Pediatricians, Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, Optometrist/Vision Therapists and possibly dentists/orthodontists. There will be at least a small pharmacy for the most commonly prescribed prescriptions on site/ Staff will meet to discuss cases and create the best treatment plans for the children. This will cut down on travel time to different locations, paperwork burden on the foster parents, and provide less "newness" for the foster children who have just been removed from everything they know and understand. Ideally when the child changes placements, they will continue to attend the center so at least something in their life will remain consistent. The centers will also have monthly events for the families they serve. The second focus is creating larger scale community events, such as a trip to an amusement park, that the smaller nonprofits don't have the money or manpower to manage, as well as connecting community members to foster children by creating smaller events to share their skills or trades with the foster children. Such events as cake-decorating, glasswork, ceramics, painting, and more.The third is to create a greater sense of community between foster/kinship families and the general public, awareness of how the general public can make a difference one person at a time for one kid at a time, and a greater sense of camaraderie and connection amongst those businesses and organizations that already serve this population. I am currently looking for strong board members help make this dream a reality.
