I worked with other graduate fellows to expose students to urban policy issues through planning events including a case competition and skills workshops. I also conducted primary research to determine the local policy capacity of municipalities in the GTHA.

I supported the unit by producing well-researched information notes and slide decks on relevant infrastructure topics, including transit-oriented development, housing, and impacts of COVID-19 on transit. I also helped with the implementation of the newly developed Unsolicited Proposal Framework.

I collaborated on a research project investigating the differences in voting patterns in rural and urban areas in Canada by conducting literature reviews and quantitively analyzing the 2019 Canadian Election Survey.

Working with a team, I performed a program evaluation for the Toronto Drop-In Network on the effectiveness of drop-in centres as a site for health care services that prevent crises and escalating health needs through statistical analysis, jurisdictional scans, and interviews with drop-in centre staff.

I managed constituent casework including intake and correspondence for the office as well as provided high-quality research to brief my Councillor on current issues within the municipality.

With a team of four board members, I oversaw the operations of a $14 million organization with over 200 employees and set the long-term vision. Within my portfolio, I acted as the chief lobbyist for the McMaster Students Union, responsible for the creation and implementation of academic and external lobbying strategies focused on enhancing student life.

I represented McMaster Students to community stakeholders, including Hamilton City Council, local businesses, community associations, and transit companies and advocated on behalf of students interests. Areas of focus included transit service, safe student housing, and employment opportunities.

I acted as a liaison between the McMaster Student Union and the larger Hamilton community, learning and expressing both sides wishes and concerns. Activities included coordinating MSU Advocacy Week, which consisted of meetings between MSU representatives and Hamiltonians working to improve the city.

I organized the 24th Annual Gandhi Peace Festival, which promoted nonviolence, peace, and justice in Hamilton. My responsibilities included coordinating the event's schedule of performers, liaising with community organizations to set up tables at the event, and promoting the festival through postering, radio interviews, and writing articles for local papers.

Working in the Grants and Community Initiatives department, I conducted literature and summarized my findings into reports for my team members on topics relevant to Foundation's ongoing initiatives. I also organized grant application processes for local community groups focused on education.

The McMaster Discovery Program is a free, university-level course offered to adults living in Hamilton who experience barriers to accessing higher learning opportunities. I provided academic support for those in the class by facilitating discussion and answering questions.
