I was elected at the end of my graduating year to serve as one of six Executives tasked with the strategic direction and management of Western’s University Students’ Council, the representative body for 30,000 undergraduate students. In my role as VP Communications I was directly responsible for the communications strategy of nine business units, more than fifty campus-wide events and programs, and all key advocacy messaging to internal, municipal, and provincial stakeholders.Highly developed leadership skills were key to my success. I directly supervised eleven paid and unpaid staff and worked in a volunteer management capacity with hundreds of the organization’s volunteers. I served as the Chair of the Board of Directors for our campus community radio station, as well as the Chair for the USC’s Advertising Oversight Committee. Refusing to fall back on existing materials and old copy, I worked hard to make sure our promotional materials had fresh and smart ideas to catch the attention of my media-saturated peers. During my tenure, the USC’s twitter account had double the followers of any other student union in Canada. I created and executed dozens of print campaigns, as well as scripted and produced the two most-viewed video promos in the organization’s history.I sat as a member on the USC’s Board of Directors for a one-year term and oversaw the organizational and fiscal direction of the USC, including major HR and governance changes to ensure the organizations’ long-term vitality.

I assisted children with autism spectrum disorders in a 1:1 capacity

I worked as a day camp counselor tasked with more fully integrating campers with unique needs into the camp environment.

Worked exclusively in French in an early childhood education centre, assisting with a classroom of four and five year olds.
