Svp/Director | Enterprise Security Business Management & Physical SecurityKeybank Sep 2023 - PresentCleveland, Ohio, United StatesExpanded role to lead Enterprise Security Services Strategy, Business Process & Execution, and Project and Portfolio Management while maintaining responsibility for Physical Security Solutions. -
Svp/Director | Physical Security SolutionsKeybank Jun 2012 - Jan 2024I was promoted to manage physical security solutions for a bank with assets of approximately $156 billion in assets, 14, 000 employees, 1,000 full-service branches, and 1,400 ATMs.In this role, I lead internal and contracted national teams in defining and enforcing physical security standards, managing critical events, providing executive security and protection services, conducting assessments, and coordinating electronic and physical security needs. I manage a team of 33 plus 150 contracted guards, and an outsourced monitoring center.I developed a security capital strategy and executed projects with a $10M-$20M annual capital budget and a $4.5M annual operating budget. Our corporate-wide employee safety and security awareness programs covered bank robbery, kidnapping and extortion, workplace violence, and de-escalation training. For executive security, I managed the protection of our leadership team including driving, event protection, and advanced trip review work.► Oversaw the decommissioning of our internal KeyBank police department at our headquarters office in Cleveland, OH. Obtaining buy-in for this project was challenging, but I succeeded by demonstrating risks, and obtaining feedback from peers in the banking industry. Our goal was to eliminate the legal and reputation risk associated with an in-house armed security force. ► Re-branded our security program and took it to a professional level and contracted with a third party for guard services. As a result, we outsourced our risk and lowered overall expenses. We achieved alignment with our peers for security services, and were able to repurpose many of our police officers into new roles.►Designed curriculum for several video and web-based courses: bank robbery annual required course, workplace violence awareness, and de-escalation and safety.► Increased efficiencies by streamlining processes, and standardizing processes from major acquisition. -
National Manager | Physical Security ServicesKeybank Feb 2008 - Jun 2012In this role, I began leading a team of 15 regional Physical Security Managers, and within several years grew this to a team of 25. Our team managed critical event response, electronic and physical security, assessments, and training. I also managed around 200 third party contract guards. I managed vendor relationships and contract negotiations for guard companies, alarm monitoring, access control and video equipment installation and service, and bank robbery device contracts. We outsourced our alarm monitoring and incident notification, and technology application ownership for access control systems and video monitoring systems. Through this, we achieved significant cost reductions, and improved protection by gaining more expertise. -
Western Region Manager | Corporate InvestigationsKeybank Jan 2003 - Feb 2008In this role, I managed 18 Financial Crimes Investigators as direct reports. Each investigator managed internal and external investigations, physical security, assessments, and critical event response for facilities located in WA, OR, ID, AK, CO, UT and ID. I also built a fraud hotline from scratch, a reporting requirement and central location for victims of identity theft to call and report their crimes. I directed a manager for this group, who in turn supervised a team of seven call center employees. This group assisted clients and employees in managing cases and claims associated with identify theft, account fraud and other financial crimes. In addition, I had a team of three report to me for fraud charge-offs.In this role, I continuously streamlined processes and procedures to increase efficiencies and save on labor cost. I acted as product owner and led the development of an enterprise-wide case management workflow system. I provided developers with all requirements and workflow information for the following units: fraud hotline, fraud detection, fraud charge-off, investigations, card fraud, fraud quality control, background investigations, anti-money laundering, and physical security. The case management system allowed us to meet federal requirements for suspicious activity report filing and is still in use today.I also managed the fraud hotline group that was responsible for assisting clients and employees managing cases and claims associated with identify theft, account fraud and other financial crimes. -
Senior Investigator | Corporate SecurityKeybank Sep 2000 - Jan 2003In this role, I was promoted to conduct internal and external investigations, and manage physical security, assessments, and training in the Seattle-Bellevue market. I trained all new branch employees hired into our market. I co-developed security training curriculum with a peer and conducted new hired classes several times per month with 15-20 attendees in each. I also trained employees on physical security at town hall meetings. As a Senior Investigator, I partnered with law enforcement officials to assist in the arrest and prosecution of criminals. For internal crimes, I achieved a 50% prosecution rate for high crimes. For external cases, I averaged 50 cases per month to investigate, and achieved a 25% prosecution rate for high crimes.I also worked undercover with the FBI in outing a criminal ring, which led to their arrest.
