Stephanie Esses, DNP, MSN, MBA, CPNP- PC/AC, NE-BC, is the Director of Patient Care Services at St. Louis Children's Hospital (SLCH), where she oversees over 320 advanced practice providers, care coordination, dialysis & apheresis, and one of the leading pediatric transplant programs in the country. She has more than 22 years of experience in healthcare, with 14 years as a certified pediatric nurse practitioner. She has a doctorate in nursing practice (DNP), a dual master’s of science in nursing as a clinical nurse educator and nurse practitioner (MSN), a master in business administration (MBA), dual board certifications as a pediatric nurse practitioner in primary and acute care (CPNP-PC/AC), and national certifications in nurse management and executive leadership (CNML & NE-BC).Stephanie's journey at SLCH began in 2012 as a nurse practitioner in the Pediatric ICU. However, her ambition and dedication led her to pursue further education, culminating in the achievement of her DNP. This marked a significant turning point in her career, as she shifted her focus towards formal leadership, a role she continues to excel in today. Stephanie is passionate about fostering and growing the "soft skills" of leadership within her team, focusing on creativity, communication, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and adaptability. She has also contributed to the advancement of nursing knowledge and practice through multiple podium and poster presentations and publications. She has served as a doctoral committee member for two doctoral candidates and as an ad hoc reviewer for the American Journal of Critical Care.
