The Research Data Alliance (RDA) builds social and technical bridges to enable the open sharing and re-use of data.The Research Data Alliance (RDA) was launched as a community-driven initiative in 2013 by the European Commission, the United States Government's National Science Foundation and National Institute of Standards and Technology, and the Australian Government’s Department of Innovation with the goal of building the social and technical infrastructure to enable open sharing and re-use of data.RDA has a grass-roots, inclusive approach covering all data lifecycle stages, engaging data producers, users, and stewards, addressing data exchange, processing, and storage. It has succeeded in creating the neutral social platform where international research data experts meet to exchange views and to agree on topics including social hurdles in data sharing, education, and training challenges, data management plans and certification of data repositories, disciplinary and interdisciplinary interoperability, as well as technological aspects.

Served as the Executive Director of the Force11 (The Future of Research Communications and e-Scholarship) a community working to transform scholarly communications toward improved knowledge creation and sharing. Was part of the founders of the organization and oversaw and set up the organization as a non-profit with 501c3 tax status, set up all organizational day-to-day operations, websites, infrastructure for community involvement and organized systems for a volunteer community to thrive. Grew the organization from 150 members to 3000+ members, facilitated community activities resulting in many initiatives that have transformed scholarship.

Executive Director at FAIR Data Informatics Lab (FDI Lab)University of California San Diego 2012 - Present (7 years 9 months +)At the UCSD Neuroscience FDI Lab I Support lab activities for multiple FDI Lab PI’s and staff, set up workflow systems for the lab, manage workflows, oversee hiring and onboarding, manage students, admin and support for all employees of the lab. Additionally, I direct the communications and outreach for the dkNET funded cooperative agreement with the National Institute of Health (NIH) National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK). Additional Projects Below is a list of additional projects where I participated or led. IDI - Integrated Digital Infrastructure (IDI) service - an on-campus program to streamline the delivery of cutting-edge IT services to UCSD faculty, researchers, and students. I worked with the PI to assist with the design, implementation, and management of the Community Showcase and the Community Portal for the IDI services. bioCADDIE – Served as project manager of the bioCADDIE DataMed back-end development team to build a data discovery index (DDI) prototype search engine to discover data sets across data repositories or data aggregators for bioscience. Big Data at UCSD - Lead the campus initiative to foster interaction and collaboration around the data representation, interoperability, sustainability, analysis and visualization on campus. Scholarly Research Faculty Profiles System – lead a research project for the UCSD Office of Research Affairs to evaluation implementing a system wide Faculty Profile System, presented a white paper on workflow plans to move this project forward.

As part of the America's Cup Organizing Committee, served as project lead to host a week-long event for Heads of State and CEOs from the Pacific Rim to participate in a business forum and the America's Cup Activities. Managed a team of 25 professionals to welcome 350 heads of state and CEO’s and their spouses for a week of activities in San Diego.
