My roles and responsibilities in this company were wide ranging and fell under three categories: roasting coffee and managing production; writing contracts and developing cost analyses for contracts and products; and managing customer relationships, sales and marketing.In managing the roastery, I was the roaster for all coffees (single origins and blends) on a Coffeetool 7kg roaster. This included managing bulk orders of blends, sample roasting, and managing production right through to packing and boxing. I developed systems and procedures to ensure product consistency for rotational and part time staff, and quality control systems to track all coffees roasted. I also managed stock of green and roasted coffee, creating production and consumption projections, and preparing purchasing, import and export paperwork.In addition to writing contracts for our HORECA clients, I also created toll roasting contracts which included clauses to ensure consistency of a roasting profile or blend costs. I created cost analyses for hotel contracts of 2-5 year payment plans covering the cost of up to NZD 40,000 in coffee equipment. I also was responsible for calculating costs of different blends and single origins to inform decisions regarding large contracts.In being responsible for managing customer relationships, sales and marketing, I designed and ran barista and manual brew training courses for staff, and informal workshops on a variety of brew methods for home users. I worked with toll roasting clients to develop blends and profiles to their satisfaction, creating consistency measures, and establishing their faith in our company. I regularly scheduled client visitations, sales calls, and visits to other local cafes for market research.

My father started this company and I took over in 2014. My roles and responsibilities in this company included roasting and stock management. Roasting and packing of coffee to deliver every two weeks and managing stock of green beans and making purchase arrangements with international suppliers.I expanded the customer base from home users to include cafe's and restaurants. Under my responsibility to care for our customers, I sourced equipment and technicians for new cafes and restaurants, gave barista training to staff from a range of cultural, language, and education backgrounds. I provided consultations for coffee menu development for new cafe owners. I also provided personal delivery of coffee, providing frequent contact with baristas, quality control spot checks, and responding to any concerns from baristas or owners.I created events and workshops, and put the brand on social media to further the brand representation. I designed, marketed, and managed informal workshops about manual brewing, home barista training, or coffee tasting. I coordinated with other businesses such as my cafe clients to host. I managed events such as farmers markets or social gatherings and created company profiles on Facebook and Instagram to keep customers informed about our products and services and to be a place of industry knowledge relevant to the market.

As a specialist subject teacher of Art for Primary and Secondary students, my responsibilities fell into two main categories pastoral and academic. Pastorally, I was responsible for the emotional and spiritual well being of my students by following up on disciplinary and honorary matters, organising extra curricular activities for my homeroom students, and stewarding communication between other teachers, students, and parents. Academically, I was responsible for developing schemes of work that were aligned to the British National Curriculum and prepared students for IGCSE. Each year I created new schemes of work for each year group, and the necessary resources to furnish the projects.
