It was supposed to be a radical change, shifting careers from a humanities academic to learning the ropes in an accountancy practice, but there turned out to be more common ground that I was expecting. Initially I took on the marketing, PR, client relations, work flow and credit control within the practice, and offered advice to clients on these aspects of running a business. I then qualified as a Tax Adviser, and took over responsibility for Payroll and the implementation of Pensions Auto-Enrolment. Most recently I have been working with my co-director David Cramp FCA FFTA, on the implementation of an entirely new software estate which has facilitated a much more collaborative working relationship with our clients. I am an unashamedly enthusiastic cloud convert, and am truly excited to see what opportunities this new way of working will open up in our line of work, and in those of our diverse client base. Specialising in English Literature and Drama, I taught a range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses, as well as undertaking the substantial administrative tasks that come with the territory in academia. I worked in the 'post 1992' sector, including Sunderland, Gloucestershire and Huddersfield. My research interest was in 16th and 17th century women's writing. I published my research and directed several theatre perfomances under my pen name, Stephanie Hodgson-Wright.
