I interned with both the education and stewardship coordinators to translate Chesapeake Bay research and stewardship projects into useful, hands-on education products. I created both a lesson plan and a digital ArcGIS Story Map (https://arcg.is/1WfeaL) based on the NERRS thin-layer placement project, which is available for public and teacher use on the CBNERR website.Performed a phenomenological study to evaluate student and teacher perspectives of digital versus traditional learning. Assisted in NERRS field work by recording data, soil coring, and geodetic surveying. Taught lessons and assisted at educational summer camps, teacher trainings, public outreach events, and field trips.I delivered many oral presentations on this project, including at the 2019 American Geophysical Union Fall Meeting, San Francisco, CA | 2020 Delaware Wetlands Conference, Wilmington, DE | 2020 Pennsylvania American Fisheries Society Technical Meeting, Huntingdon, PA, where I received Student Oral Presentation Award. As part of the Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internship program, I assisted with research in the Environmental Sciences Division in the Climate Change Institute. My mentor was Dr. Avni Malhotra, an ecosystem and plant ecologist. Under her instruction, I studied warming and elevated CO2 effects on fine-root traits and their link to peatland carbon function at SPRUCE (Spruce and Peatland Responses Under Changing Environments). I specifically focused on how branching is affected by the resulting environmental changes. I utilized image analysis software, WinRHIZO for my analysis and gained experience working with roots in the lab and performing statistical analysis on the data.I presented a poster about this project at the ORNL Intern Poster Session and American Geophysical Union Fall Meeting 2018.

I interned for 10-weeks at the nature summer camp. I improved educational skills with students in Pre-school up to 9th grade. Each week, I was given more responsibilities in the lesson plans and by the last week, I had planned and taught my own lessons.
