I'm currently working as a PhD Student and Teaching Assistant in the Prather Lab at University of Dayton. My research focuses on insect community responses to solar array development (mostly in the Midwest). I'm interested in how insect communities change over time after solar is installed, and how to best manage a "solar prairie" (a solar array with native flowering vegetation) to attract native insect pollinators.My Master's research focused on the benefits of propolis and brood comb to honey bees infected with European Foulbrood (bacterial brood disease caused by Melissococcus plutonius), and I also worked as a Research Associate/Lab Manager, focused on neotropical ant species and their symbiotic interactions, particularly fungus-farming ants, their microbial associates and their social parasites.My research and career interests span entomology, ecology/evolution, conservation, tropical biology, ecotourism and teaching.
