I graduated from the University of Guelph with a PhD in Literary Studies and Theatre Studies in English.My dissertation focused on twentieth-century Dakota writer, musician, and activist Zitkala-Ša, placing the remarkable and influential work she did in her lifetime in its historical context, and particularly focusing on the collaborative aspects of her writing and activism as well as the impact she continues to have on contemporary Indigenous women artists. During my time as a student, I also worked as a research assistant, contributing to an archive on Indigenous performers of the 1880s to 1930s. I enjoyed learning about these artists' stories and sharing them with others, and I would be happy to find more ways to use the research skills I developed to make important information from the past more accessible to people who might find it meaningful today.I have also worked as an editor for university publications, and I currently assist students with university applications through my work with the Ontario Universities' Application Centre. Outside of my work in writing, research, and editing, I also enjoy music, playing piano and guitar and performing in community musical theatre productions.
