Ten years ago, I made the important decision to temporarily retire from my full-time career as a Media Buyer in order to stay home and raise my children. I feel extremely fortunate to have been able to do this and wouldn't change it for the world. I consider my experiences and the things I've learned on my journey as a mother to be more valuable than any job I have had. Provided marketing/media analysis and recommendations with rationales on a part-time, consultative basis. Using our primary and secondary demographics, I researched mediums and ratings in the Milwaukee market. Then I strategized and negotiated rates to create media recommendations and rationales for our company and its products. Facilitated creative process between company CEO and stations. Finally, placed media schedules upon approval.

Greater Denver Area

Planned and purchased television, radio and cable schedules for clients in the medical and legal industries throughout the nation. Used research, strategy and negotiation techniques in order to compile an efficient and effective media schedule that maximized the client's media budget. Strategized using clients' goals, target demographic(s) and budget. Proposed recommended schedule to the client and placed upon approval. Wrote media rationales for each proposed schedule, summarized my recommended broadcast schedule and explained strategy. Created customized flowcharts for each quarterly/annual schedule, which gave clients a visual overview, breaking down selection of networks, day parts and on-air months/weeks. Effectively communicated internally and externally in a prompt and thorough manner during every phase of each project. Regular communication included status updates and reports directly to Media, Account Services, Production, Accounting and Sales Departments, VP, President, station reps, media representation firms and some clients. Successfully delivered projects on-time and on-budget; consistently met goals, such as CPP, GRP, reach and frequency. Saw projects through to completion.

Print/Outdoor Buyer: Researched print and outdoor mediums in various markets throughout the country to develop recommendations for effective and cost-efficient print and outdoor media campaigns. Evaluated many factors of each advertising opportunity, including: circulation/readership, pick-up discount opportunities, ability of publications to zone/target to specific areas within the DMA, traffic counts, product being advertised, demographic and budget. Composed media recommendation, rationale and flowchart; placed upon client's approval. Coordinated with graphic designer to get creative materials revised to have the correct dimensions and color for each creative.Media Assistant: Requested and input rates for Buyers/Planners. Planned and purchased print media nationwide for a local institution recruiting students for their Medical Transcription program. Researched publications, requested rates, placed insertion orders, confirmed placement and coordinated print creative.

Used computers to research book requests, place special orders and keep inventory. Closed out registers and calculated profits, kept accounting records. Ran errands, such as traveling to the bank to make deposits. Seasonally changed the window and store displays to reflect seasons/holidays, trends and reading recommendations.
