Stephanie Michaels is an educator and administrator with a focus on program development, management, youth and community engagement, and performing arts education. Stephanie loves to lead but also enjoys collaborating. Stephanie is an innovative problem solver and creative force with a diverse skill set that allows her to adapt and excel in a variety of professional environments.Stephanie Michaels is an Instructor and Lecturer and recipient of the Golden Plume Teaching Award at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan, has created and implemented many community programs through her work as Artistic Director of Ignite! Productions and as a frequent musical and educational contributor to programming at Temple Israel in West Bloomfield, Michigan. Stephanie has over twenty years’ experience in opera, music, theatre, and film including the national tour of The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber. Stephanie has taught at the secondary school and university levels in Michigan for over fifteen years. She studied acting and music at Interlochen Arts Academy (H.S. Diploma), The Juilliard School (Bachelor of Music), and Manhattan School of Music (Master of Music studies). She studied education and theatre at Southeastern Oklahoma State University (Master of Education - Curriculum & Instruction - Theatre Pedagogy). Stephanie is pursuing her Ph.D. in Educational and Organizational Leadership, expected conferral 2025. Stephanie trained in Somatic VoiceworkTM Certification Level I, II & III, Estill Voice Training Level I & II, at the OBERLIN Institute of Vocal Performance Pedagogy, and worked with leaders in the field at the HAL PRINCE Professional Musical Theatre Workshop. Stephanie has trained in diversity and equitable practices at Columbia University: Inclusive Teaching, Supporting All Students, Massachusetts Institute of Technology: Becoming a More Equitable Educator, and coursework toward this goal in her M.Ed. Stephanie has been actively involved in her community, in addition to her work at Oakland University, Frankel Jewish Academy, and Temple Israel, Stephanie has been an active volunteer including serving multiple terms as Vice President of school PTA and PTSAs.Stephanie's focuses and specialties include event planning, mental health programming, online and distance education, community outreach, educational and recording technologies, youth arts, acting techniques, languages, singing styles, contemporary music, musical theatre, direction, and many aspects of theatrical and event production including costume, hat & wig design, decor, and floral design.
