Used transcriptomics and proteomics data from geographically diverse human samples to study the regulation of gene expression. ∙ Co-led a successful $100,000 JHU Discovery Grant application for this project.∙ Research was featured by Oxford Nanopore Technologies in an interview at the ASHG 2023 conference.

Leveraged short- and long-read sequencing data to characterize the functional impacts of genetic variants in large genomic/transcriptomic datasets.• Developed a WGS analysis pipeline, combining long-read sequencing and variant graph genotyping, to discover structural variants in a dataset of 2,504 individuals.• Extensive experience in expression/splicing QTL mapping & fine mapping.• Led functional characterization of novel genetic variants in collaboration with the Telomere-to-Telomere Consortium.• Funded by a National Institutes of Health NRSA (F31) Fellowship.• 10 publications and 6 talks at national and international conferences.

Awarded a $4,000 grant from the JHU Center for Teaching Excellence & Innovation to develop materials for a course introducing undergraduates to computational human genetics. TA for Quantitative Biology Bootcamp & Lab, a set of courses that introduce first-year biology PhD students to Python, bash, and genomic data analysis.• Worked extensively with other TAs to adapt these coding-intensive courses, normally dependent on in-person assistance, into remote/hybrid formats during the pandemic.• Consistently highlighted in anonymous student evaluations as an integral part of their success.

Performed and co-designed a mutagenesis screen for identifying arrestin binding sites in transmembrane nutrient transport proteins. This method was included in a Methods in Enzymology book chapter and taught in a lab course at Hartwick College.

Collaborated in a six-person news editor team to publish the paper’s daily news section, cover breaking news, assign investigative pieces, and train new writers. Helped lead The Sun's transition to web- and social media-first reporting.

Worked one-on-one with authors to edit nonfiction manuscripts at the substantive editing, copy editing, and proofreading stages. Credited as the primary editor on three Familius titles.

Worked with cancer cell lines to study the impact of deoxyguanosine kinase (DGUOK), a mitochondrial protein, on the regulation of cancer metabolism and metastasis.
