I have taught science and scientific writing and communications classes to science-minded students for more than seven years. My focus is on expanding undergraduate and graduate students' confidence and capabilities as writers and presenters, with an emphasis on the value that these skills bring up-and-coming scientists in their current and future endeavors. My experience includes first-year classes and upper-division course design and implementation, using both in-person and online learning approaches. My pedagogical interests include active learning and teaching to reach diverse audiences (diversity, equity, and inclusion).I support our department's Quality Teaching Initiative, with a particular focus on expanding our implementation of active learning pedagogical approaches. I direct the department's writing laboratory and offer writing and presentation workshops to lab and student groups. I also conduct outreach with community members.
