This role allowed me to apply my project management skills as I coordinated the electrical design process for multiple concurrent projects. As a client facing team-member, I had the opportunity to build lasting relationships with clients as we worked together on projects. I was approached by the CEO of a Vancouver-based technology startup to manage operations for the development team. I successfully implemented some task management protocols and a file sharing system protocol. I identified gaps in the existing communications structure and worked to close those gaps.

I was successful and productive in my previous role, but my most unique and valuable skills were being underutilized. I sought to identify a more demanding and well-suited career.I orchestrated the opportunity to take a personal and professional development sabbatical, where I traveled extensively, and explored many facets of the engineering industry.I designed and built a van-conversion RV, lived and traveled in that van, and rode my bicycle 4500km along the Continental Divide.I studied project engineering, industrial engineering, and applications engineering on a self-directed path. I pursued training in these fields (such as Lean Six Sigma training) and completed an extensive literature review.
