All my work life has revolved around customer service. I have always enjoyed helping people. I started working at a local general store and ran a cash register and manned the deli. Since then, I've always enjoyed making people happy. Even when customers were giving us a hard time, I try to rectify the situation so it ends up being a positive experience. From there I got a job with Okemo Mountain Resort as a bell/valet attendant. I helped people with their luggage and parking their cars. I enjoyed the small talk and getting to meet different people from all over the world. Then I started my career with the VT Dept. Of Motor Vehicles. The reputation it had was a negative one. I thought I could turn that around. After one year, I had many comment cards filled out stating how great a help I was and how easy and friendly I had made a DMV visit. I worked my way up from being a temporary employee to being the supervisor of a branch office in three years at the ripe age of 26. I have the respect of my staff and fellow peers because I know the job inside out. I've done the work, and continue to do the work, that they do (including license and registration processing, permit and road tests, motorcycle skills tests, and CDL skills tests). Since I became supervisor, I have developed my skills in law interpretation, developing policies and procedures, and project management. I now have 15 years of experience with DMV and 8 years of that as a supervisor. I have been awarded merit awards for the hard work I have put in. I have maintained certifications so I can continue to work and keep my skills sharp.
