KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:• Planning of resources and technical requirements for production work.• Prioritize work for processing in line with expected turnaround times.• Provides technical training on all aspects of the laboratory function to laboratory staff• Recommends resources required for the planned work, including manpower, equipment and draws up budget for approval• Reviews performance against work plans on an on-going basis, maintains accurate records and all affected parties at specified intervals.• Schedules work to be undertaken on a daily basis, and assigns tasks to team members, specifying procedures to be followed and timeframes.• Oversees work in progress, checking quality, and compliance with laid down operational procedures• Identify and participate in appropriate proficiency testing schemes and inter-laboratory analysis to verify laboratory performance• Source appropriate certified reference materials and develop in-house reference standards for use in quality control and method development• Supervision, verification or preparation of calibration standards for use in the laboratory• Supervision and carrying out both classical and instrumental analysis (AAS, etc.) of samples in the laboratory• Supervision and carrying out routine instrument maintenance• Responsible for assisting in technical training of laboratory staff to ensure effective skills transfer• Ensure that analysis are done according to documented procedures• Provide support to Laboratory management on all issues concerning quality, health, safety and environment.• Analyze and provide corrective action on all HSEQ management issues of non-conformance in accordance with ISO 17025 requirements• Formulates safe work procedures, based on nature of work and associated risks.

• Supervision, verification or preparation of calibration standards for use in the laboratory daily.• Supervision and carrying out both classical and instrumental analyses (AAS, etc.) of samples in the laboratory.• Running independent analytical checks to ensure implemented operational controls are in place and are effective.• Supervision and carrying out routine instrument maintenance.• Carry out problem solving investigations, picking checks and preparing jobs for final approval by the laboratory manager.• Sample and Data Management.• Responsible for all direct reports on shift in terms of Quality, Production and HSSE.• Prioritizing workload.

• Monitoring of plant operating parameters (Cyanide Concentrations, Density, Pressures,• Dissolved Oxygen Concentrations, pH, Temperatures) for effective operations• Monitor and optimize oxygen flow to the CIL/ILR circuit for effective gold dissolution• Minimizing fine carbon generation to prevent gold loss• Thorough knowledge in fluid mechanics in operating the In-line leach reactor(ILR) circuit• Monitoring pH of pregnant solutions to gold room for effective gold deposition• Thorough knowledge in heat exchangers operation and ensuring effective and efficient elution recoveries• Reporting to Shift Supervisor and Senior Metallurgist on the current state of operations to effect changes to achieve requirements for plant processes• Sample preparation and performing daily metallurgical laboratory test works• Performing quick sizing of hydrocyclones overflow and underflow to know the efficiency of ball mill with respect to the grind• Ensuring and optimizing grinding efficiency• Attend training courses as scheduled by the Training Supervisor• Assist in the training of junior company plant personnel as required• Present weekly and monthly reports and presentations on plant processes• Ensure safety compliance and that housekeeping is for safe processing• Performing effective liner measurement during mill shutdowns• Optimizing bed mass to ensure effective thickening
