As a paramedic at Abbott EMS my responsibilities include: responding to 911 calls, transferring patients to and from facilities, training new hires, and to be a preceptor for EMT and paramedic students. I have provided care for patients from every walk of life in a diversity of situations. On a regular basis I have interactions with patient's family members in their time of crisis and provide care for them as well. I often have to take control of a situation when there are bystanders or multiple responders. I have learned to think quickly and clearly in stressful situations. Working with many different partners I have learned to be a team player and get along with people I have never met. As a private ambulance service hospitals and nursing homes are our customers as well, which has given me experience in working professionally and kindly with other caregivers.

I was hired at Missouri Baptist Medical Center as a patient transporter. I was later promoted to Radiology Technologist Assistant. As a rad tech assistant my primary responsibility was to transport patients from the emergency department to radiology. I worked along side radiology technologists in positioning patients for their x-rays, prioritizing patient exams, and communicating and coordinating with other departments. I was the primary trainer for newly hired transporters. I also participated in department meetings to improve overall patient care and efficiency.
