Stephen has over 21 years experience as a commercial litigation lawyer. He is admitted to the Supreme Court of Queensland (January 1991), to the Supreme Court of England & Wales (March 1992), and to the High Court of Australia.He has acted for a diverse range of clients in wide ranging disputes, and his experience has included acting in many complex and large scale litigation matters, across many courts in Australia and the UK. As part of Stephen’s Litigation practice, he emphasises the notion of alternative dispute resolution, mainly through mediation, and aims to develop strategies with clients that try to maximise the prospects of an early resolution, if at all possible.As regards his insolvency expertise, he has extensive experience in both personal and corporate insolvency, and has acted for all manner of stakeholders across many external administrations including voluntary administrations, receiverships, liquidations and provisional liquidations. Those stakeholders have included insolvency practitioners, directors, secured and trade creditors, and shareholders.Stephen also has a strong interest in turnaround management, as well as statutory demand law and procedure, insolvent trading claims, oppression matters, voidable transaction matters, regulatory issues and 'securities' issues.Stephen’s interest in maritime law has also seen him complete an intensive short course in Maritime Law at the University of Southampton, UK.
