I am very excited and grateful to joined the CareerSource Capital Region team as the Local Veterans Employment Representative (LVER). Joining the CareerSource team allow me the opportunity to continue my passion and commitment to service the needs of our Veterans and their families. I have spent a lifetime, more than 26 years, serving the needs of citizens at the municipal, state and federal levels. I am a US Navy Veteran, having served 7 years on active duty; and a Persian Gulf War Veteran who served on the USS Wisconsin (BB64). I have recently served as the Executive Director of the Center for Minority Veterans at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Office of the Secretary, in Washington, D.C. In this role, his number one priority was to help Veterans and their families in terms of educating, informing and engaging them on VA benefits and services from the following VA administrations: Veterans Benefits Administration, Veterans Health Administration and National Cemetery Administration. I served as the principal advisor to the VA senior leadership on the adoption and implementation of policies and programs affecting Veterans who are minorities. In my pervious leadership assignment with VA, I served as the director of the VA Center for Faith-based and Community Initiatives. And, I served under four US Presidents in a leadership position at the VA. Further, I have also served as the director for the State of Florida VA State Approving Agency.In terms of education, I have earned a BS in Political Science and an MPA from the Reubin O’D.
