I am a molecular and computational biologist with a keen interest in understanding the evolutionary biology of parasitic worms that infect humans and animals. My research uses population-wide to single-cell resolution genomics approaches to understand the genetic basis for the evolutionary success and future potential of parasitic worms, and identify evolutionary constraints that may be exploited to develop novel ways to control them.

I am the senior Postdoctoral Fellow in the Nematode Functional Genomics Laboratory run by Assoc. Prof Warwick Grant. My main role is to generate (wet-lab) and analyse (dry-lab) next generation sequencing datasets that aim to investigate the development of drug resistance in Onchocerca volvulus, a human parasitic nematode found predominantly in West Africa. I employ range of sequencing approaches to undertake genome-wide association analyses and population genetic analyses to understand the development of drug resistance, and potential for this resistance to spread. I also use conventional molecular biology techniques to develop genetic markers that can be used to monitor parasite populations in the field.
