I have spent over 30 years working in the insurance industry in Ireland in various capacities, mainly in the claims area. I originally started in underwriting and then moved to a role claims handling and general Inspector within an insurer. I then undertook a position as loss adjuster, where I specialized for a number of years in liability claims including contract liability, public liability, professional indemnity and personal injury. I have also worked for some years in Personal Lines property claims then moving on to deal with Complex claims, and specialised in oil and environmental damage. In 2007 I joined Alpha Environmental as general manager for their business in the Republic of Ireland. In October 2009 I joined RAW group environmental contractors and consultants as associate director working with the insurance industry on oil contamination damage claims, and became main board director in June 2010. This broadened my experience in business generally. In June 2014 I made the big decision to take on a degree course in Psychology and changed my working role to free lance claims consultancy through a company I set up called PRAXIS CLAIMS. I am carrying on consultancy claims work with a number of clients. Part of my reasoning for this change is to work in the areas of claims training, mentoring and support to clients within the industry.
