Experienced dean with a 30+ year career in the higher education industry. During my administrative tenure, the Pharmacy Practice Department grew from approximately 12 individuals to over 30 full-time, tenure-track faculty with practices throughout the state. The college implemented an innovative Doctor of Pharmacy program in 2000, utilizing two off-campus instructional sites for delivery of the third-professional year curriculum under his supervision. I have served as the Residency Program Director for the Meijer/Ferris/Pfizer Community Practice program since its inception and for several years served as a member of the residency advisory committee for a Managed Care Residency program established with the Kalamazoo Center for Medical Studies and Pfizer. In addition to my academic appointments, in 1996 I was appointed to the Michigan Board of Pharmacy for two terms, serving as the Board’s chairman for two years. In 1997, I was awarded the Joseph Oddis Leadership Award by the Michigan Society of Health-systems Pharmacists. In 2009, I was awarded the Michigan Pharmacists Association Executive Board Medal. I am a member of the Board of Directors of the Michigan Health Council and served as a Board member of the Michigan State Area Health Education Center as well as treasurer of the West Michigan Area Health Education Center. I was part of the team that established an inter-professional diabetic clinic in which nursing, optometry, and pharmacy students provide expanded educational services for patients with diabetes. In 2004, the clinic received national recognition by the Department of Health and Human Services and in 2006 was recognized by the American Public Health Association for its innovative practice model.
