(Works Engineer from May 1999 to March 2006)As Deputy Dirctor Technical Services my key responsibilities included: Design and construction supervision of municipal and private works, urban and rural subdivisions, roadworks, storm water drainage, water, sewerage, conduits and concrete footpaths, rural roads and drainage.Preparation of engineering drawings, estimates and documentation for civil works.Overseeing operational and maintenance works.Investigation and solving various public complaints and answering inquiries.Supervision of Main Roads Construction Contracts for road widening, reconstruction, reseals and intersection improvements.Overseeing the RMPC.Assisting in the planning of water and sewerage schemes.Managing the annual reseal program.Management representative on the Work Place Health and Safety Committee.Recruitment, selection and training of staff.Annual performance appraisal of field staff.Regularly providing expert advice to other sections of Council.Auditing Council’s Quality System.Checking of engineering plans to ensure compliance with conditions of development approvals, and supervision of works undertaken by external contractors.Maintain excellent skills in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint, Publisher, Outlook, Project), Autocad, Civilcad, Dataworks, Practical, Mapinfo. Experience in 12D.Updating “as constructed” information, asset databases, and total management plans.Maintain knowledge of relevant Acts, Australian Standards, Design Guidelines, Council policies and procedures including the Manual Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD), Austroads, Queensland Streets, AMCORD, Main Roads Design Manual and Specifications, Queensland Urban Drainage Manual. Represent Council at public and regional meetings.My achievements during this time included:Project management, design and construction supervision of numerous projects within budget and time.
