I'm the Operations Manager at Crushco quarry on the east rand of Johannesburg,we supply a wide arrange of material to the construction industry.

I have been tasked with increasing the up time and production requirements of our Flagship quarry in the eastern region it is required to produce 100,000 tons a month .

I'm currently focusing on the maintenance to pick up the reliability and the utilization of the plant and to instill a more proactive culture with in the maintenance team which will allow the quarry to operate at high efficiency level

I'm responsible for the production of the quarry. The operation has a capacity of 550 tons per hour .This includes the day to day EMS inspections of the pit .I focus on time cycles to ensure the load and haul equipment is running at its optimal level. Ensuring the rehabilitation and development of the quarry. which includes mine planing meetings and and dealing with mine inspectors .This is done to make sure my employees and stakeholders are protected.I'm also the blast controller for the Quarry I coordinate the evacuation of the pit and plant when blasts are done and conduct a visual inspection of the Quarry and a roll call with point guardsmen to give the all clear for the blasts to be detonated.I have responsibility over safety of 25 people on site ,which is maintained through on going coaching and training.I do the training on LO.TO.TO. awareness and near miss reporting and other safety related topics,Safety talks are done before each shift starts .I play a huge role in the electrical maintenance and modification of the plant by conducting on the job technical coaching sessions with the electrician onsite which helps optimize the production.
