Governance Risk ComplianceMvelaserve - Circle Ict Solutions (Pty) Ltd 2010 - 2012From the initiation of the company I have been responsible for steering the Governance Risk Compliance (GRC) department with the objective of establishing GRC strategies, directed by King III, COBIT and ISO and accepted by business risk management within the group. Secondary to this the department was recognised as a profit centre with specified financial and performance targets. My responsibilities included all aspects of analysis, audit, financial, resource and contract management associated within the department as well as governance and legislative recommendations and integrations for the company. I was also appointed company secretary as stipulated by the Companies Act and represented the company in Group CIO, HR and Risk forums. The department is project focused and results driven and therefore mostly staffed by contractors on an ad hoc basis.In addition my immediate responsibilities included the establishment and management of a project office based on the principles and methodologies of PRINCE II. The objective of this office was to enable transparency with regards to company cost and resource allocation and ultimately to manage every aspect of the business on project (cost awareness) management principles.

I expanded the infrastructure from 25 standalone units in 2002 to a 60 server MPLS based 1100 + user infrastructure in 2007.I was also responsible for the amalgamation of the ICT departments and technologies with the Protea and Coin Group merger in 2007 and was subsequently appointed Group IT Manager for the newly established ProteaCoin Group. Despite significant turmoil and savings demands during the merger we maintained a 0% staff turnover in the ICT department up to the time that Group ICT was centralised.

These projects included the design and rollout of i.e. Frame Relay, ATM, MPLS, Data centre and facilities related projects. Project responsibilities included the analysis of new systems, technologies, cost, and quality control in consideration of associated risk to and requirements of the relevant company. During this time I was requested to assist in an ICT project for the Coin Security Group and was subsequently offered the position of IT Manager.
