After many years working in the financial sector I have made a career move to train as a support worker to people with a variety of mental illnesses.Previously:I am an Independent Consultant based in South Gloucestershire. I specialise in advising pension scheme trustees and sponsoring employers on employer covenant issues, affordability of scheme deficit payments and restructuring options. I am a qualified accountant and insolvency praticioner.I previously was a senior manager within the Pensions Credit Advisory team of PwC based in the Bristol office covering the South.My role involved: - employer covenent assessments for trustees and employer companies; - scheme funding assessments; - considering the impact on pension schemes of transactions involving the sponsoring employer; - restructuring options to manage the defined benefit pension scheme issue; - preparation of financial management plans for trustees or employers.I was seconded to the Pension Protection Fund for six months in 2007 assisting with regulated apportionment proposals to the PPF.Recent assignments:1. Advising SME company (turnover c £10m pa) in its negotiations with the trustees of its DB scheme and with the Pensions Regulator in respect of the miigation to be provided to the scheme in connection with a management buy out.2. Advising directors of a £80m turnover business in its negotations with the trustees of its DB scheme in respect of appropriate mitigation in connection with a proposed share buy back.3. Advising trustees on the strength of the employer covenant porovided by its employer; a £100bn turnover quoted company and also providing on going assisitence with regular monitoring of the employer.
