Stephen Howard Email and Phone Number
Having always had a keen interest in Engineering and all things Mechanical, I served my time at Teesside Training Enterprise as a mechanical craftsman, completing my apprenticeship in 1998 and I was taken on in full time employment by Kvearner Redpath. I thoroughly enjoyed this job as it gave me the opportunity to stretch my mental ability and apply the knowledge and skills I had gained, to complete tasks successfully, often to tight deadlines. In 1999 I started work for Marske Site Services on Corus with the hope of expand my skill base and gaining valuable experience in the steel industry. In 2001 I started work at South Bank Coke Ovens.I have enjoyed working within heavy industry, working under pressure, in a live iron making and chemical By-products plant environment, carrying out and overseeing maintenance of plant and essential infrastructure. This has given me a great understanding of smooth plant operation. In 2008 I was promoted to mechanical supervisor/inspector, this role introduced me to a diverse range of working practices and brought with it fresh challenges. My duties now include writing daily permits to work, daily job briefs, fire risk assessments, spot checks, proving and organising isolations, prioritising jobs, planning, ordering spares, scheduling and providing job feedback, using the SAP system. I also ensure that team members adhere to all relevant safe working procedures and risk assessments at all times. Training has also included the use of a globally accredited automatic data processing system (ADP) with the responsibility of inputting data, to ensure staff, are paid correctly inclusive of overtime, absences, holidays etc.I have gained a great deal of transferable knowledge in my time working for Corus, TATA and SSI and would now like to advance my knowledge by further pursuing my career in engineering. I am a competent, versatile and highly motivated individual, equally comfortable working alone or as part of a team.
