Working on Cycle City Ambition Grant Projects these are schemes aimed at improving movements for pedestrians and cyclists on various routes into the City Centre. The works involve taking schemes from Preliminary Design through Detail Design and onto Construction. Responsibilities include production of Drawings production, Bills of Quantities, site supervision and writing various reports to ensure the legal framework is in place for the works.

Warrington

A member of the Project Team for Doha Expressway Project so far duties have included the preparation of General Arrangement, Plan and Profile, Road Corridor Plan, Road Network Plan and Right of Way Plan Drawings. The above drawings being derived from data received from the client through Sharepoint and distributed to the project team. The Project is at Preliminary Design Stage and the team is being developed around the Project so the role and duties will by necessity change as the workload requires. Qatar design standards will apply to all design.

Daresbury

Responsibilities include the horizontal and vertical design of the perimeter road, parking areas, loading bays and footway areas for the SMF project at Sellafield and preparation of preliminary and detailed design drawings. Responsibilities also include the preparation of preliminary design drawings detailing Pipebridge proposals for low active effluent route, domestic water and low pressure steam line. The design and drawings all being prepared using AutoCad 2012 and are to Sellafield and National standards and procedures as applicable. With involvement in the undertaking of various construction and buildability exercises including crane collapse, site establishment and services routing.

Warrington

Responsibilities were the completion of the preliminary design documentation for Highways Agency Area 10 MAC. Schemes included the replacement of defective surfacing materials, vehicle restraint systems and line markings all prepared using the HA’s pro forma documents, standards, statutes and guidance.

Wrexham County Borough Council

Responsibilities included the production of the Tender Drawings using AutoCAD 2010 and other documents for the £1.5m pound widening Scheme along Croesnewydd Road. All documents and drawings were prepared utilising NEC3, Wrexham Standard Details and HA standards, guidance such as DMRB and MCHW, as necessary.

2008 - 2008 Stoke City CouncilResponsibilities were the design, procurement and sign off of Road Signing and Marking schemes to complete various local safety, home zone and junction improvement schemes.2007 - 2008 Stockport MBC Responsibilities included the design of junction Improvement Schemes, traffic signal upgrades and installations and upgrading of Bus Stops to meet GMPTE standards working to budgets of up to £90k. I was also responsible for preparation of Contract Drawings, preliminary, budget and detailed estimates and site supervision of the above works. Projects were delivered on time within budget.2007 -2007 Costain Oil Gas and Process; Stublach Gas FieldsMain responsibilities included the vertical and horizontal design of the highway alignment and drainage to various access roads for Ineos project, Stublach Gas Fields.

Civitas SuccessResponsibilities included work undertaken for the European funded project to identify potential improvement schemes within the City Centre. The aims of the schemes were to improve the environment for pedestrians, cyclists, public transport and exclude where possible private vehicles throughout the City Centre, with the main focus being the continued viability of the main thoroughfare Fishergate. This included the identification of;• Suitable methods of access control• A complimentary and unique pallet of street furniture and paving materials• Revisions to the existing TRO's• The necessary realignment of footways and carriageways• Existing barriers to movement and thier removal / resiting, eg, steps into shops, guard rail / fencing, planting, etc.It was also necessary to liaise with Preston City Council, Preston Bus, Local Business forum, cycling forum and taxi operators to ensure agreement of policy for issues such as deliveries / pick ups, employee parking, peak hour restrictions, materials etc.Church StreetResponsible for the design of a traffic calming scheme to identify and address a specific safety problem outside the night spots of Preston on Church Street and connecting Streets.Heysham to M6 BypassResponsiblities included the preparation of noise calculations, buildability exercises for various sections including the section to run through Lancaster and Morecambe College campus. The results of these being included within the Councils Proof of Evidence at Public Inquiry.Caton Road - Bus LanesResponsible for the site survey, data collection and analysis for the preparation of a feasibility study into potential improvements for Public transport into Lancaster City Centre.

Responsible for the design of Civil Engineering works including: •A drainage scheme to allow disposal of deicing agents as agreed with the EA. The scheme was due to change of use of Airport Hangar from storage to maintenance and incorporated the diversion of part of one catchment areas flow into another. •Cycle tracks alongside the Conwy Estuary including sections going under Conwy Road (A547), bridging over the adjacent rail lines, bridging over an outfall from a Highways storage pond and running adjacent a nature reserve. •Section 278 works to accommodate redevelopment of the Rolls Royce site in Sefton. •Installation of radiation detection equipment at various Airports and Ports.Also responsible for the preparation of Contract Documents for the above, car park surfacing inspections, site surveys / inspections, scheme identification and feasibility studies for various clients including;• Manchester Airport• British Waterways Board• Halton MBC• Stockport MBC• Meadowhall• Network Rail

Nottingham Express Transit Line 1With the assistance of a Graduate engineer I was responsible for the production of the construction stage drawings for the Park and Ride sites and accommodation works. The works involved liaison with a Landscape Architect Consultancy and attendance at client meetings to report on progress, post contruction site safety issues and liaise with other disciplines.Responsibilities also included the Pavement Design for the various lengths of carriageway alongside the on street sections of track. Again with Client meetings to gain approval of suitable surfacing materials and aggregates.Liaison with the Traffic Signals Designer, who was based in the Adelaide office, to assist with the production of the traffic signals drawings. Leading onto the production of Road Markings and Traffic Signs drawings of the on street sections in conjunction with NCC to ensure the clear zone was implemented efficiently and successfully.Works also included the use of AutoCAD and Autotrack to verify vehicle movements to assist in the identification of a suitable access route for an oil tanker to access a private residence. I also assisted the Drainage engineer in the production of both the Drainage and Ducting drawings.

Highways DesignPortland Basin Heritage centre design/site supervision of footways and car parking area fronting Museum building. This involved refurbishment of existing footways and relaying stone sett car parking area and side streets. Following phases included further environmental works to side streets and installation of public work of art.Also involved in civils works for refurbishment/new installation of traffic signals at various junctions and pedestrian crossings. Together with design, costing and implementation of various local safety schemes and minor junction improvements.

StructuresInvolved in bridge and council property inspections and design of necessary repair works. Assisted with site supervision of Richmond Street's bridge strengthening works; this involved providing retaining walls to enclose arches and in-filling voids with PFA/concrete. Dukinfield Magistrates Court retaining wall, design and site supervision of 50 metre length of mass concrete brick clad retaining wall.

TransportationAssisted with preparation of the Councils TPP submission and with the monitoring of the capital programme.Responsible for the planning, site surveys / data collection, data analysis and completion of reports for the Hyde and Stalybridge town centre car parking studies. This involved a secondment to GMTU for preparation of the relevant paperwork for site survey work and analysis thereof along with the results received from site/postcard questionnaires. Preliminary design of minor junction improvements and scheme identification as a result of undertaking various corridor studies.

Assisting survey with site surveys and drawing preparation. Responsible for testing survey equipment and organising necessary repairs. Various office duties.
