Projects Quality ManagerBp Aug 2013 - PresentBasra, IraqMy key objective is to ensure that work on the operation and redevelopment of Rumaila, Iraq’s largest oil field, is compliant with project specifications, international codes and standards. I manage and coordinate all Quality Assurance and Quality Control aspects of daily operations and multiple concurrent projects. Crude oil production is being increased through new wells, rehabilitation of existing wells and processing facilities, increased water flooding and installation of new water injection facilities and infrastructure including power generation. I have developed a lean yet robust Quality Management System and associated procedures, and lead the General Construction Management Contractors Quality Team. A highlight of my time has been achieving a step change in Quality performance, to meet international standards and enable long term improvement in local capability. I have also been responsible for many process improvements which have had an impact on project cost and schedule, often introducing new techniques and rationalising specifications. -
Project Quality ManagerTengizchevroil Nov 2011 - Aug 2013Tengiz, KazakhstanI managed quality for the billion dollar SGE project, Debottlenecking and Turnaround scope, including E219 Boiler, SGI Pipeline, Modifications to Deducter at 3GP, Central Field Manifold Modifications at 3GI and Produced Water Skid. As Senior Management representative for project quality I liaised regularly with Kazakhstan Government authorities, assigned and monitored local contractors, and coordinated Third Party Inspection activities. I was involved in the supply chain end to end, from purchase requisition through to order placement.Starting with minimal processes in place, I developed a fit for purpose Construction Quality Programme which remains in use today and is now an adopted standard for all Oil and Gas projects performed in Tengiz by Chevron.I introduced a number of improvements, including- Customised Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) for packaged equipment i.e. fired heater, pressure vessels and skid-packages- New ITPs for all construction disciplines and Construction Quality Inspection (CQI) check sheets- Standardised work-flows for rapid response to field queries and RFIs- A weld tracking database, addressing the issue that this critical tool was not understood or used by the performing contractors -
Client Qc RepresentativeExxonmobil Sep 2011 - Nov 2011ThailandA client advisory role, involving liaising with the principal contractor and carrying out onsite inspections, tests and line walks for all disciplines. . -
Qc ManagerAker Solutions Oct 2009 - Jul 2011Caspian Sea Offshore KazakhstanI managed a team of over 150 multinational personnel, assuring quality of all Hook Up construction activities including Civil, Structural, Piping, Welding, NDT, Pressure testing, Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Painting and Coatings. The role required regular liaison with multiple stakeholders to meet Government regulations, international standards and project specifications. Demonstrating my commitment to upskilling local workforces and improve standards, I led a project to train and qualify 600 welders across a range of different materials, which reduced repair rates to below typical international failure rates. During the Completions phase of the project I had to implement a Recovery plan to demonstrate installation quality, after problems with contractors failing to comply with test requirements. This was ultimately successful and Phase 1 of the Hook Up completed on time. Other recovery activities included:- Substantially reduced a back-log of over 1,000 outstanding NDT welds through implementation of a work flow which showed where bottlenecks existed- Mobilised a team of COMPEX qualified inspectors from the UK to perform inspections, who completed 14,000 inspections with correctly populated ITRs in 81 days- Reduced project schedule by adopting Alternative inspection techniques including Time of Flight Defraction (TOFD), Phased Array and Close Proximity Radiography -
