He has previously been a Parliamentary Candidate for a major political party in 1986- 87 and 1990-92 and has served as a Shadow/ Cabinet Member (2007-2012 and 2021-22 on Newcastle City Council.)A member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations - Stephen is an established Media Relations expert and freelance citizen journalist. He has published widely in The Journal, Chronicle, Sunday Sun, Northern Echo, Post-16 Educator, Newsquest publications and Northumberland Gazette on a range of public policy related issues.He contributes to social media sites such as FE News, Labour List and North East Bylines.
