Ultimately, this process helps produce a lasting legacy and more successful inheritors. My clients have built their wealth in various ways, most often through business ownership, be it in a private company or public stock. They understand how hard it is to build generational wealth, and that having substantial wealth brings both benefits as well as a unique set of challenges for them, their children, and grandchildren. Their main concern is not if they have enough for their own lifetime, but if their wealth will have a positive impact on the lives of their beneficiaries.The families I work with value my advice and view me as a resource to help solve problems beyond investment design. I operate as a “consigliere,” dedicating myself and my team to the family, working with individual family members and holding interactive meetings to continue progress toward the desired outcome. As a result, I develop a deep relationship with them, and can’t imagine letting them down with any decision as I would feel personally responsible. Along with being an advisor, I am a husband and a father. While these roles have different responsibilities, my values remain the same. My kids often laugh because they know the research insights I uncover will soon be tested on them, and I’m always proud when they can reference a financial lesson.
