    I had the privilege of participating in an Undergraduate Research Program focused on the advancement of clustering methods, with a particular emphasis on enhancing the existing K-Means and K-Median algorithms. Collaborating closely with my dedicated team members, we embarked on a journey to craft algorithms from raw theoretical principles with the primary goal of achieving a substantial reduction in time complexity, specifically in a multinomial context.Our endeavor culminated in the successful creation of these novel algorithms, ones that demonstrated exceptional promise in theory due to their impressive computational efficiency. However, to truly evaluate their worth in practical applications, we conducted rigorous empirical comparisons with established clustering algorithms. Regrettably, our findings led us to a sobering conclusion. While our theoretically captivating algorithms boasted a significantly reduced theoretical time complexity, the empirical results revealed a stark contrast. Their practical utility was severely compromised by their unexpectedly high empirical time complexity. This humbling experience illuminated the complex interplay between theoretical elegance and real-world applicability. It underscored the importance of bridging the gap between theory and practice, reminding us that a compelling theoretical foundation alone does not guarantee practical effectiveness. Our research thus contributed to a deeper understanding of the nuances and trade-offs inherent in the development of clustering algorithms.
