My research aims to understand the cellular and molecular mechanisms underpinning responses and resistance to anti-cancer therapeutics, particular radiotherapy and chemotherapy. I am also interested in identifying transcriptomic and proteomic signatures that are predictive of patient response to therapy. Furthermore, I have significant interest in the molecular and cellular biology, including immunology, behind… Show more The focus of my research group lies in oesophageal and mesothelial cancers. My research aims to understand the cellular and molecular mechanisms underpinning responses and resistance to anti-cancer therapeutics, particular radiotherapy and chemotherapy. I am also interested in identifying transcriptomic and proteomic signatures that are predictive of patient response to therapy. Furthermore, I have significant interest in the molecular and cellular biology, including immunology, behind malignant progression during the Barrett's metaplasia-dysplasia-adenocarcinoma sequence. Our cancer research is of a highly translational nature and involves close collaboration with scientist and clinician colleagues at Trinity College Dublin, St. James's Hospital, Dublin, and abroad. Other duties include: Teaching, PhD/MSc student supervison, mentorship, tutoring, acquisition of competitive grant funding, fostering industry links, participation on academic committees, curriculum development, financial and personnel management, outreach, PPI, among others.
