Competa Millman began operating from a hostel room at the Chiromo Campus of the School of Computing and Informatics, University of Nairobi, Kenya in March 2010. Originally working under the name BTI Millman, Dunstan Machoka teamed up with Steve Maina and Fred Onyango to develop custom web and mobile solutions for the Kenyan market. Committed to a culture of collaboration and with a strong desire to build ways of making a positive impact on society into our business model, we were one of the first African companies to join the Fair Trade Software Foundation in 2011, partnering with Competa IT BV in the Netherlands. The relationship proved fruitful, so in 2017 Competa acquired a stake in the company and the name was changed to Competa Millman. Competa Millman continues to grow, meeting the increasingly complex needs of more and more customers from all over the world.

Unleash is a UN innovation event bringing together 1000 youths from around the world every year to co-create sustainable solutions that can catapult the world to achieve the SDGs by 2030. I was nominated to attend by UNFPA for our www.imara.tv innovation that is an online Tv that delivers short entertainment videos directly to members of the public for free sex education. The videos are crowdsourced from small groups of talented youth in Africa who express their artistic and digital skills to create music, movies, comedies, poetry and animations tackling SRH issues like HIV/AIDS, FGM, GBV, LGBTQ/I and Early Pregnancy in a localized and relatable way. Since the content creators collaborate to do all the work, they keep 90% of the Net Revenue generated from advertising for their economic empowerment to create sustainable and scalable knowledge-based jobs in the film industry
