Profile bio

About Stephen Malone

After a successful period as a professional engineer, a consultant and adviser, I switched career in the late 1990s becoming an academic. I began as a senior lecturer in business, progressively moving through various administrative and leadership roles in higher education to become an Associate Dean and then Dean. I have worked for, led and advised in a variety of contexts, my experience encompassing corporate and MNC strategic and operational leadership, and SME consultancy. I am skilled in educational leadership and management, curriculum development and innovation, quality, and international education, where I have managed significant staff numbers, budgets and projects. I have also led on 'third-stream' activity, employer engagement, degree apprenticeships, consultancy and wider stakeholder engagement with government and professional organisations, students and educational overseers (OfS, OIA, QAA...).During the pandemic I took up a number of adjunct teaching roles, which rekindled my love for teaching and learning, working with students and committed colleagues. At the same time I began a PG Adv Cert in education studies to update my knowledge and build a new network.

Listed skills include Research, Teaching, Public Speaking, Coaching, and 22 others.
