1. Under limited supervision, conduct research and analysis into the structural integrity of current and future naval platforms using linear and non-linear finite element methods;2. Provide expert technical advice to Fleet units and the Commander Sea Training (MWV) regarding shipborne Propulsion, Electrical, Auxiliary Systems and Damage Control relating to Minor War Vessels;2. Provision/review of advice in the assessment of reported defects in terms of equipment and personnel safety, capability casualty modes, effect upon immediate and future operations, contingency plans and alternate solutions; 3. Review and investigate as required technical documentation from Fleet units and other organisations, as directed, in the form of Technical Investigations, Departmental Management Audits and Material Condition Assessment Audits; 4. As a member of Fleet staff and as a member of the MWV Sea Training Group responsible to Fleet Engineer or his/her representative, assist in the assessment of the safety and performance of mechanical, electrical and auxiliary systems in minor war vessels, including personnel and equipment elements. Routine activities included participating in post refit safety inspections, Work-Up Performance Evaluations, Mariner Skills Evaluations, Unit and Mission Readiness Evaluations and Sea-checks; and5.
