• I currently serve as Master with Irish Ferries and am responsible for implementing the Health, Safety, Welfare and Environmental protection policy of the company through the company’s safety Management System and ensuring that the ship and crew remain certificated and compliant at all times.• Additional responsibilities include, budgetary controls, liaising with Shore management on a daily basis, ensuring planned maintenance is up to date and continuous crew training.• I have taken a lead role in preparing vessels for Annual Internal & External Audits and assisted with the setting up of a new build Safety Management System and preparing a HSC for service after winter layups which included, crew interviewing, crew training, ship auditing and all aspects of ship administration prior to the introduction of a vessel into passenger service.
