As a Project Officer at CEPEHRG, I oversee the implementation of HIV implementation programs tailored for MSM, which aims to improve the sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) and human rights of the key population in Ghana. I am passionate about advocating for the rights and well-being of LGBTQ+ people, and I am a proud alum of the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) cohort 39Some of the skills and competencies that I have developed and applied in my current role include:Managerial skills: I supervise a team of volunteers who provide HIV testing and peer education services to the key population, and I organize and facilitate quarterly refresher trainings and biweekly and monthly review meetings for them.Accounting and administrative skills: I receive and manage funds to execute project activities, and I prepare and submit monthly data and narrative reports to the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer. I also handle the petty cash for the day-to-day running of the office and the drop-in center.Public speaking and training skills: I educate the key population on SRHR and human rights issues, and I lead them to health facilities for services. I also participate in various advocacy and awareness-raising events and platforms, such as radio interviews, seminars, and workshops.Counseling skills: I provide emotional and psychological support to the key population, especially those who face stigma, discrimination, or violence, and I refer them to appropriate resources and services.I hold a Higher National Diploma in Postharvest Technology from Koforidua Technical University, where I gained knowledge and skills in food processing, preservation, and quality control. I am interested in learning more about how to apply these skills to improve food security and nutrition for vulnerable communities.
