* I audited and updated the data center inventory management system for two datacenters, including power and network links as well as rack diagrams.* I configured Geist remotely managed and monitored PDUs.

* Network management supporting the fastest (at the time) supercomputer, Titan, and the underlying infrastructure and storage (AtLAS) beneath it, as well as for NCRC's Gaea supercomputer and infrastructure.* Managed day-to-day operations of a datacenter network. Using Cisco, Dell and Arista solutions. VLANs,SVIs, ACL, Port configuration, Switch configuration/management, Router Configuration/Management, Secure environment.* Assisted in setting up a 1.2 Tbps port channel, using 12 100Gbps links.* The biggest project was writing perl scripts and incorporating them into a monitoring solution, Nagios, using configuration management, Bcfg2, in a Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environment. I also set up splunk alerts to show us the important logs each morning.* Helped trouble shoot network issues for in a RHEL environment.

* Solving customer issues with the network(wired and wireless)* Setting up AeroHive APs, terminating ethernet cables, hanging the APs, and managing them through the central interface.* Deployment of Extreme switches in a campus environment.

* Learned python scripting and a Red Hat Enterprise Linux Environment (RHEL).* Set up a test LDAP system; added sanity checks and speed up a python script that the lab used to convert entries from the HR database to LDAP users and groups. When I started the script took over an hour to run after removing unnecessary processes and speeding up some of the data structures the script would run in less than 5 minutes for a total of 10,000 users.

• Replaced an existing Citrix Xen Server virtual machine cluster with a new VMware solution; work included setting up 3 ESXi hosts managed by virtualized vCenter instance; setting up a new iSCSI SAN based upon Dell Equallogic 4000 series units; training my successors on the use of the infrastructure; participated in the planning process for the business continuity and disaster recovery plan for the cluster. • Managed the network, SAN, and the domain for the Computer Science Department’s datacenter, as well as provided desktop support for the faculty, staff, and classrooms.• Ran Windows Server 2008 R2 for our Active Directory Server, DNS, DHCP and terminal services solutions.• Managed the backend appliances that allowed for our day-to-day business as well as our disaster recovery plan. This included a puppet install to easily stand back up most of our Linux applications; includeing a small MPI cluster for the researchers, a Debian box that the students and teachers used for compiling code for classes, a Debian box set up as a VNC client that acted as the lab for the Physic’s Department, and an Amanda server for tape backups.• Assisted in setting up and teaching a class on Linux administration that later turned into a required course for graduation. This class taught the basics of VIM/EMACs, installing your first Linux server, getting DHCP and IPtables working to serve as a firewall box, then bootstrapping a puppet master, setting up your firewall’s configs in puppet, rebuilding your firewall using the puppet configs, setting up an SVN server, putting your puppet configs into SVN, building a small LDAP server using puppet, and finally setting up a world routable Apache server through the NAT on your firewall box. Later the model for this class was adapted so that you would use your set up in this class to do projects in other classes, such as Information Security and Assurance.
