    Researched and developed payload electronics for a Disturbed Earth Prototype Sensor (DEPS). Payload is an embedded mC system with motor control for IR optical path, thermal reference source w/ 0.1°C accuracy for IR calibration, 100W TEC cooling control, and control of other peripherals.Researched and wrote the electrical sections of DRS’ proposal to the army for the Enhanced Night Vision Goggle (ENVG), for which DRS won a first year contract. The ENVG optically fuses imagery from an IR channel and an Image Intensifier Tube (IIT), operates at under 1.5 W and weighs less than 2 lb. Acted as lead electrical – developed several CCAs and flex circuits, integrated system with partners/suppliers products.Lead electrical for the proposal and the design of the DVE-FOS (Driver’s Vision Enhancement Family of Systems) program. Led small group in designing 5 circuit cards integrating the DRS V5* IR processing platform. Production program is ongoing.Worked in a group of 4 engineers designing DRS’ V5* IR image processing architecture. Developed FPGA periphery interfaces, DMA, interlaced and progressive data movement, system/imagery timing and output formatting blocks.

Responsibilities include Xilinx Platform FPGA design using XPS/ISE development flow with custom portions written in VHDL, Xilinx detailed systems design, and board-level support in specifying Freescale processor implementation and GigE port configurations.Provided design and debug services for a variety of NPOESS 1394 board and chip-level products, including rad-hard ASIC design and test support, FPGA prototyping of ASIC designs and design and debug of several configurations of boards that incorporated the NPOESS 1394 chipsets, including PCI, cPCI and bridged multi-node implementations.Designed and verified a 2-PCMCIA Card implementation of the Aeronix Castellan Programmable Crypto design. Also responsible for mechanical and SW driver requirements, and performed further simulations on the encryption engine to maximize encryption/decryption throughput.
